Call for session leads

Apply to be a Session Lead

For the 6th Global Food Security Conference, we welcome applications for Session Leads. The role of session leads is to support the Scientific Committee in the selection of abstracts and the set-up of the break-out sessions during the conference.

Session Leads will be responsible for 1 to 3 break-out sessions during the conference. They will be supported by members of the Scientific Committee and the Dialogue Committee. The Scientific Committee will guide the Session Leads for the evaluation of abstracts. The Dialogue Committee will support finding a variety of methods used to enhance interaction during the break-out sessions.

Session Leads will have a meeting in the first week of May to discuss the Call for Abstracts. Evaluation will take place from mid-September until 21 October 2026.

Session Leads are available to attend the conference, 20-22 April 2027, in Wageningen, The Netherlands. Their entry ticket for the conference will be reimbursed.  A limited number of travel vouchers will be made available to session leads from low and middle income countries.

Those submitting proposals will be notified of the decision regarding their application by Friday 1 May 2026.    

The following criteria will be considered in selecting session leads: please include the details on the application form alongside your professional details:

Scientific publications: add up to 3 of your most relevant publications including a valid link to the publications (paper, peer reviewed article, position paper, book chapter etc)

How your expertise covers the scope of the conference: include a 250 word statement outlining your motivation 

How your expertise covers transversal themes: include motivation for a transversal theme that corresponds best to your expertise (max 2 transversal themes – motivation should be no longer than 250 words)
