Thom Achterbosch, Wageningen University and Research, The Netherlands

Thom Achterbosch is senior researcher: food system transformation at Wageningen Social & Economic Research, Wageningen University & Research.
He seeks to foster sustainable food systems and healthy diets through applied inter- and transdisciplinary research on food policy, innovation policy and finance. He establishes and leads European research programs on food systems transformation, across local to global scales. He currently leads the Food System Observatory under the EU partnership FutureFoodS and contributes to the development of knowledge networks on food systems in Netherlands, Europe and globally.
He has published on topics including food policy; food security and nutrition; healthy and sustainable diets; food loss and waste; trade, standards and development; sustainable finance. In his research he uses participatory and quantitative methods, to develop foresight and foster innovation towards sustainable practices and plurality in how knowledge is produced and used. He holds an MSc in development economics from Erasmus University.
