Ramya Ambikapathi, Cornell University, USA
Ramya Ambikapathi is a nutrition epidemiologist and a senior research associate at Cornell University in the Department of Global Development. She completed post-doctoral fellowships at the Harvard School of Public Health and Purdue University, evaluating nutrition-sensitive agricultural intervention in Ethiopia. She received her MHS (2009) and Ph.D. (2017) from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. She has a bachelor’s degree in environmental science (2007) from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and has researched aquatic and terrestrial ecology. Her research broadly focuses on how environmental, structural, and social factors translate to poor nutrition outcomes and efforts to mitigate negative impacts. This has led her to explore gender equity, men’s engagement, family food choices, food environment, informal economy, and metrics and methods to measure these complex factors related to nutrition outcomes.
