Aldo Stroebel, National Research Foundation, South Africa
Dr Aldo Stroebel is Executive Director Strategic Partnerships at the National Research Foundation (NRF), South Africa, and Visiting Fellow at Cornell University’s (USA) Institute for African Development. He is a Founding Member of the South African Young Academy of Science (SAYAS) based on research excellence and academic publications (incl. two edited books), and a Fellow of the Ugandan National Academy of Science (UNAS). He serves on the boards of the Water Research Commission (WRC) and the Agricultural Research Council (ARC) of South Africa, and has served as Past-President of the Southern African Research and Innovation Management Association (SARIMA) and as a former member of the Research and Innovation Strategy Group of Universities SA (former HESA). He is currently the National Contact Point for H2020’s ERC. He was a panel member of the Consensus Panel on Agricultural Education and Training (AET) of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf). His graduate research was completed at Ghent (Belgium), Free State (SA), Cornell (USA) and Wageningen (The Netherlands). He has published widely in smallholder farming systems, and has been acknowledged as a leader in the internationalisation of Higher Education, and research and innovation management.
