Andy Du Plessis, Food Forward SA, South Africa
Andy Du Plessis, the Managing Director of FoodForward SA, started his career in the public sector with the Department of Health’s social assistance programme. Because of his passion for wanting to make an even greater impact, he made a career change when offered the opportunity to head the Peninsula School Feeding Association, a leading NPO that specialises in school feeding programmes. Andy joined FoodForward SA (formerly FoodBank SA) in 2013 as the MD. Under his leadership, the organisation became the leading non-profit organisation in the food security sector in South Africa, using a unique model to address short-term hunger – Foodbanking. Andy’s qualifications include a B. Admin Degree; an honours degree in Public Administration; and an Honours Degree in Theology.
